For all the hype around this game, people sure did move on from this game faster than any previous Pokemon game

Personally, I didn't enjoy it at all, but for all the love others were giving it, it had the sharpest decline. I don't even think its only because of of Gen 9, either.

It has no online content, nor that much of a post-game aside from the usual Battle Tower (shiny hunting barely counts because of how easy it is)
Gen 9 also did hinder it a lot

well, it's a singleplayer only game with a very limited dex, very limited postgame and no multiplayer. It was released after the holiday season and after a remake of the same region. And while the reveal of gen 9 certainly wasn't the only factor, keep in mind that it was revealed some 3 months after this game was released, and that kinda killed its spotlight.
LGPE kinda died somewhat quickly as well, just not -as- quickly because it was a controversial release and it took a while for SwSh to be announced.

This game works mostly as pure gameplay. It should've done definitely more but its the first game that feels like a full console game

More and more Pokemon games are becoming Marvel movies where people care for 5 minutes but then forget them immediately. That just comes with the territory of having a huge normalfag audience though. They don't get invested into something for long and just hop to the next thing as soon as it comes along.

It's a strictly single player game. The moment you end it, there isn't much else to be done.
I played 290h of Elden Ring, got all achievements, but since I'm done with it, I don't talk about it that much anymore.

Sounds like there's not much to do outside grinding achieves, no harm. I put over 800 hrs into BL2, but didn't touch the OP levels or even go for the achieves, the core game loop and setting was more than enough to keep me going back in (might add, I played it as SP experience too, don't like multiplayer, there's rarely a filter to select "only people casually playing for fun" option in the "join games" sections of these things). Same with Arceus - completed the story, beat Volo and cbvmnuyii met Arceus. Still going back into it to shiny hunt, while leaving the autism simulator and the padding missions well alone as per normal.
