With Johto, I think of comfy traditional cities and the blue-tinted nighttimes with bright yellow windows.
With Hoenn, I think of tropical locations and trumpets in every song.
With Sinnoh, I think of snow, pianos, and a general sleepy vibe.
Kanto doesn't have that. The gen 1 games have the janky sprites and (in the GBC version) monochrome cities with bitcrushed music. LGPE has the chibi cartoon aesthetic.
But FRLG doesn't have anything. It uses boring colors with a really basic soundfont and bare minimum competent spritework.
