I know for Pokemon like Ponyta, they're able to control the flames that they produce and their intensity, but a living blob of magma can't really regulate their heat production. Especially since magma in of itself has to be a certain temperature of heat to maintain its liquid state. It makes me think that there's some Pokemon that just shouldn't be meant to be used in combat due to their danger and difficulty to be used.
I'd actually would love a version of Pokemon that can address the dangers that certain types pose as well as how difficult it is for certain species to be tamed and raised. I mean, there's Pokemon like Tyranitar that can literally go into rampages that alter whole mountain ranges. Gengar can easily view its own trainer as prey and harm them with curses. And we're not even getting into subjects of Psychic types and their capacity to be either equal or greater than humans in terms of how they can have higher intelligence, the ability to alter mental states of their trainer, and even steal away children that are never seen again.
