What went wrong?

Nobody uses this thing even though it has a pretty cool concept and a unique ability in Steam Engine.

It could have been a choochoo train anon. But they just made a stupid fucking genwun kaiju instead. It's gmax form is alright but I just cannot stand the stupid fucking cartoon eyes on it and karkoal, they're such a departure from it's cool light up eyes it had when it was a baby. But it was used early on in VGC iirc. Weakness policy with a partner to aqua jet into it with minimum attack. Max speed boost and weakness policy boost would let it wreck house.

It means you have to bait a water attack, which will cripple you. Anyone knows that and will just lean into its OTHER 4x weakness.

I like it and use it, but it's typing is just shit and making its ability rely on taking a 4x effective attack is stupid.

It's not even a gen 1 kaiju. Gen 1 kaiju had tails that made them look more balanced. This shit looks like some gen 4 objectmon that's going to topple over at any moment.

This is a major reason why giving GMax forms to gen 8 mons was a mistake. Coalossal feels like it was designed to just be an inferior version of GMax Coalossal and looks naked without it.
I assumed they were just gonna dexit every gen 8 mon with a GMax form, but nope. Coalossal is gonna be in SV.

I ended up taking it to the league during my space opera. Didn't care much for it until I used it. Made for a really satisfying bulky special attacker with body press as a physical option. Of course dual 4x weaknesses are always sketchy, but at the end of the day only a coward would be put off by that.
He looks rly kewl when using flamethrower too

Fire can compliment the rock typing, but even as a rock type he ain't great, and the ever present water typing makes him very, very easy to take down. Like any pokemon, he can be made to work, but there is a lot of situational risk and there are simply better options for its niche.

I can't remember its stats but I imagine by it's design it's slow as fuck. Would a 6x boost even make a difference? Maybe if the ability worked in rain it could be good in a rain team, but I doubt it does.

All the bells and whistles of it's ability didn't save it from being a slow mixed fire/rock type. Only good in a doubles format and that can have it's HP doubled with the current gimmick.

This should have been the coolest fucking thing ever a hulking rock kaijumon with a glowing mouth and eyes what we got was a lumpy pile of rocks. Feels like they came up with the gigantomax first and had to "scale back" on base Coalossal leaving this boring nurtured design also just dropping wheel motif.
