>>51081408Vaporware, and a failed, mismanaged project. If it ever comes out it will be seen as incredibly bland and quickly forgotten.
Development is so slow it might as well stop, with all the members leaving due to real life, burnout or exasperation with how the project is handled further adding to the snail pace. They have polls for basically any smallest decision like moving a tree tile or altering the moveset of a random trainer's mon needs to be unilaterally approved, it's basically self imposed bureaucracy and yes, it's every bit as idiotic as it sounds.
They wanted to make a game that represented /vp/'s taste in how the ideal pokemon fangame should be, they ended up slowing everything to a crawl in order to cater to every smallest suggestion and complaint to the point where /vp/'s culture and demographics have changed several times since Sage's development started. 99% of the current board users were not even there when they still made threads asking for feedback, and many aren't even aware this exists.
Clover instead, which also set out to do the same thing, took the nearly opposite approach and succeeded. A small group of anons fucking around decided to make a joke romhack that celebrates and satirizes chan culture, made just a few threads asking for ideas and design submissions and just went ahead and fucking made the game They didn't give a shit about the people whining about the crass humor, the cheating prevention, the difficulty, etc, they embraced the chaotic nature of the development process and anon suggestions received, put their own flair on it and released the game. And it was fucking good, memorable, and while it maybe doesn't reflect /vp/ or chan culture beyond its time it made sure to celebrate and let everyone know of the good times that were had and taking pride in it.
Sage is a failure, Clover is a triumph.
