Originally, a character sheet with Ash, Iris, Servine, and Dewott got leaked in June or July 2010, and then Iris was shown in trailers. People thought she was an anime original character because they expected Ash to be traveling with the female protagonist from BW, but we figured they decided against it due to CoroCoro pointing out that the protagonists appeared older than in previous games. When pictures of the games themselves started leaking in the week before, people were shocked that not only was Iris in the games, she was actually the final Gym Leader in White.
I remember rumors going around that Bianca becomes the Champion too.
