>>51089676>Part of the reason Weavile is as good as it is is because it does extremely high damage against multiple key Pokemon that it wouldn't be able to without its Ice typing.Ok, name them then as we can see if STAB on Triple Axel would really make a difference or it could just easily substitute STAB with LO.
>This Darkrai comparison is fucking retarded because Darkrai has higher offensive statsDarkrai has higher SpA than Weavile’s Atk, but Weavile has stronger moves
252 SpA Life Orb Darkrai Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Celebi: 351-416 (102.9 - 121.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Celebi: 393-463 (115.2 - 135.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
So Weavile is in fact stronger, given the same item.
>higher defensive stats,Yeah, but this difference isn’t so big.
252 SpA Celebi Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Weavile: 141-166 (50.1 - 59%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Celebi Grassy Glide vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 135-160 (48 - 56.9%) -- 91% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Celebi Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Darkrai: 135-159 (48 - 56.5%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Celebi Grassy Glide vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Darkrai: 105-124 (37.3 - 44.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Darkrai a sliver bulkier specially and noticably bulkier physically, when accounting for stats only.
However, Weavile is much frailer here because it’s part Ice.
>more coverage,Like what? Thunder?
Weavile gets its own version of Sludge Bomb and Focus Blast with Poison Jab (which is weaker, but that’s fine for coverage that’s there to hit Fairies) and Low Kick (which is weaker too, but fine for hitting Dark types and most Fighting types). Keep in mind, it still does have Triple Axel, just without STAB, so Buzzwole would be pretty much the same issue as before.
>and access to sleep. This would be great is not for Gen 7 that nerfed Dark Void into the ground, making it effecfively useless since. Now it only has Hypnosis as its best sleep move.
