>>51089621Hard agree. Part of what makes BW1 so good is how experimental it was, trying new things in the structure of the main story. BW2 reverts to the same shit they were doing with Gen 3, Gen4.
BW2 does have PWT and a few other extra features that make it cool. A lot of people prefer that it has Pokemon from all regions during the main quest, and I respect that. However, BW1 remains supreme in my mind as a beautiful shift of the conventional Pokemon formula.
BW1 gets a lot of flack for borrowing elements from RBY but it does it in the best way possible. The true rival in the game is N, in RBY your rival is the champion. N is technically the champion fight in the game, but after beating him you discover that he isn't even the true final boss and that Ghetsis is actually a bad motherfucker.
BW1 making it so you only fight the evil boss at the end of the game makes it feel so much more intense. Other games have you fight the evil boss multiple times and it just makes him feel like a weakling and you know what to expect.
Not to mention that the game is barely over after you beat N, there's still lots more to do! I sunk hours into the post-game of BW1 just exploring and fighting the E4 again to truly become the champ and fighting Cynthia and catching the available legendaries. Amazing game.
BW2 is great too, but it almost feels like they had the idea for both games. One being a reboot for the series with experimental aspects, the other being a more formulaic game that is safer. When they finally had to make the decision over which build to sink their time into and release, they decided on making both. (Obviously this doesn't make that much sense logistically but it's just how it feels to me)
