Gameplay-wise Pokemon isn't actually that much fun to me. I never liked turn-based JRPGs and even among those I think Pokemon is one of the worst.
It's the Pokemon themselves and their variety that appeal to me so why would I limit my pool of choices just so I can play against sweaty NEETs?

They raise and lower certain stats like adamant nature being +attack and -special attack which is off course useless for an Abra. You probably wont really notice or need it in a casual playthrough. Maybe only in the battle tower/subway etc. it might matter a bit more, and in certain harder romhacks.
Tbh im always annoyed when i get some useless nature. I guess they 'fixed' it now with those mints.

Yeah, you can just play the game casually. The game even tells you that pokemon of the same level can be different. If you want, you can catch twelve pikachus instead of just one and then pick the best one that'll fit your play style.

Also beating those players is easier as it seens, specially because you can catch these generic teams off-guard in a ft1 ranked for example. I mean they'd be fine if they were the only thing doing that.
However there are THREE (4) other features contributed to that
Natures, "Likes X type of food", and Abilities.
IVs are fundamentally retarded because you might as well get 1 in every stat or 30 in every stat
As you said: they should've been ignored in PvP ever since Gen 3.

Stats are not invisible, and people are likely to notice that 2 of the same Pokemon have different stats despite being at the same level.

Fair point. But on the other hand, what if the Pokemon actually did have identical IV's and the player just leveled up the 2 mons in different areas and they had different EV's?
