i do live in japan and i did apply to the studios that make the anime. i got rejected by the studio that makes the tv anime but i did get an interview at the studio that made movie 21 and that zoroark short. I'm gonna apply at the company that makes the card game too.

I taught myself Japanese, took about 4 years to get N2, get off your butt

Applies to every country really. People fall in love with few things of a particular country enough to move in there, and 90% will leave in the first few years because they ignored tens of the negatives until they had to experience it all themselves.
Only those that move from a literal shithole like africa or middle east for example where even survival is not guaranteed have no regrets.

is it worth learning japanese just to be able to consume untranslated stuff.
there's a lot of japanese games/visual novels/literature/media that i am interested in but can't experience because they either have no translation or a shitty one.
i'm getting tired of being locked out and dealing with shitty localizations/translations.
but i don't believe that's a strong enough motivation to be honest.

I'd say it is honestly.

You don't need to be fluent in Japanese to at least be able to get the gist of shit like manga/games (literature that's just text is probably harder though), and engaging with stuff like games/manga/etc. can serve as an additional means of practicing the language.
