Mono-ice is a somewhat worse defensive typing than Electric/Ice, and a much worse defensive typing than Electric/Ice with levitate.

for dudes with one super powerful stab and not much else, they get a lot from boosting it.
whereas if you're using coverage most of the time anyway, changing stab doesn't actually help all that much.

Gimmicks are shit. Everyone we had. No one can deny that and the game was better without gimmicks. But smogon is even worse than shit because they remove gimmicks only to protect their stall format since stall does not benefit as much from dyna/tear as offensive mons do. Was mega and Zmove shit? Yes and gimmicks ruin the game. But GF won't return said gimmicks once they are done making the profit. So removing an entire gimmick just to protect a format is only proof that the format is flawed and not the gimmick itself no matter how shit it is since GF does not release broken gimmicks when they know people play the game in a competitive format.

Anon, what the fuck are you talking about? Do you even know what these gimmick mechanics even fucking do? Making a Pokemon a single monotype is not even how most Megas worked. Only 1 became mono type, but it also got a 100 BST increase, and used Filter.

To be fair they want a "balanced" competitive focus so everything doesn't feel like a "war" yes most Gimmicks were shit but these past 2 Gimmicks were the worst because noone asked for them but they needed something to spice up the plot since the legend lore is underwhelming now with Megas they worked with Smogon despite people crying for them to all get banned cause it made older Pokémon more reliable and the mons that got banned to Ubers were mons with excessively op abilities combined with their gigantic stat increase

Megas mindbroke Smogon is the truth you'll never want to admit.
They had to put overpowered Pokemon in lower tiers and as a result raised the level of the Pokemon in the OU tier.
Giving to starters, Pokemon with already good BST, +100 BST is NOT good design, and letting them roaming in OU is fucking retarded

Tera forms only give you extra STAB if your Tera Type matches one of your original.
So you give up duel x1.5 bonuses for a x2 bonus to 1 attacking type.
If your Tera type is different from the original types you have, you only get STAB on that type and lose STAB on your original STABs.
Besides Super STAB, there is no additional bonuses to any damage output that isn’t type chart related.

That's the problem with all these gimmicks. Yes, even the universal ones.
The richer end up getting richer. Turns out that if you give everyone the same thing the people who have more resources to use them will end up using them better than those who do not have the means even with the gimmick giving them a helping hand.
For every shitmon that became good because of the gimmick there's 10 already good mons that became EVEN better.
Gimmicks are fundamentally flawed. You can tell GF is trying to "fix" the issue with Megas by making the gimmicks universal but the same issue happens at the end of the day.
