>>51121097>>51122104Design wise, this is not as cool as Megas.
Gameplay wise, I absolutely love it.
It’s the most tame of the gimmick mechanics, but it’s also far more intelligent than the other 3.
>MegasBasically glorified Ubers with limitations
>Z-movesBasically Gems but had Status Moves involved and exclusive moves too, with some nuance differences like Knock Off or single uses.
>DynamaxBasically Z moves, but making sure sperm could use it successfully
>Tera TypeThe potential for team building with this and how you use it during battles opens up so much creativity, and lets you extra optimizations for every Pokemon on your team. Everyone that was saying Dynamax made weaker Pokemon stronger were full of shit, but Tera Types do this for Pokemon with Bad typings, but doesn’t leave out the potential for top tiers either. A Pokemon like Avalugg suddenly becomes top tier because the thing holding it back from being Physical Blissey is its shitty Ice typing. You can do so much with a Pokemon like Avalugg now. Make it Steel, Poison, Fairy, Ghost, Flying, or Ground depending on your team. This mechanic can also help Pokemon like Heatran, but also have it be more thoughtful. If you want to Tera Type Heatran, you got to give up your Fire/Steel typing, which is an amazing typing. However, because Tera Types are kind of background atributes, Heatran can run Grass, Flying, Water, Ghost, ect. for different match ups. If you fight a Rain team, Heatran is no longer dead weight on your team because it can at least become a Grass type. It can even use Tera Typing to turn the tables on Trappers. Dugtrio that normally would trap Heatran now has to deal with a Grass Heatran, or a Flying Heatran. This effectively nerfs trapping abilities heavily, and we’re not even done with the full potential yet or all the mechanics explained.
Offensive Pokemon benefit with this mechanic as well, especially already mono type Pokemon, Pokemon with massive movepools, and sweepers.
