Kind of doubted it until I saw the image more clearly. Nice improvements so far, if this was what the models looked like during SWSH I bet a lot less people would have been mad over dexit

I do love what they do with Pokemon. Adding such simple thing as their eyes following you in Arceus added SO MUCH life to standing models.

The eyes not being flat textures added so much life to each and every Pokemon. Same with the mouths. Not sure if Misdreavus is new or from PLA but the new trailer showcasing it's animations was a good idea. It moved beautifully. Also sky battles are no longer fucking over Pokemon. Elektross was STANDING and you can see the mouth is not a flat textures anymore the Pokemon itself is hollowed out.

new Arcanine looks awful, the smooth lighting just doesn't work with the fur spikes. The rest look great though, having actual modelled eyes makes Beartic look far better

I agree the lighting is shit but that's not the models fault. You can see the actual see where the two layers of fur start to blend together. Huge step up.

Actual textures and actual 3D mouths are definitely a nice touch. I'd like to see the texture work go even further, give Pokemon fur and scales and that sort of thing, but I'll take what I can get.

Technically they do, its just that they're extremely light on most mons.
You can see a fuzzy texture on the cat and the croc has scales like the legends(and Serviper as already mentioned); just one thats not visible except while close.

You can also just barely see hair on Mudsbray.

I hope we get some good data mined wire-frames because its hard tell outside of Arcanine which are better models are which are differently rendered textures

literally all of them have different meshes just like PLA. Look at mudbray or mismagius in the OP, it’s incredibly obvious they have actual modeled mouths now instead of a flat mouth texture slapped on.

I feel like the scale/fur/hair textures are subtle cause they’re afraid to make the designs look too different from the official art, which has always been flat colors with basic shading

I always imagined the ball to be matte, like covered in a coat of bluish grey paint. Especially since it had a very different color to the screws and magnets.

I agree the human characters are fucking atrocious but the way the pokemon look is actually great. I'm really fond of how a lot of pokemon are more detailed now like Seviper and its scales.
