I don't understand the hate. The colors communicate type, and the antenna combined with the head make it look like a skull and crossbones. It's fine.

What do you want them to do? It's a simple design to begin with, and they changed what there was to change. Antenna, stomach marking, color...what else can you expect?

Salamander larvae tend to not be particularly colorful, either brownish or with almost translucent skin.

Just a recolor, nothing to hate really. Nothing to appreciate either.
I like normal wooper, this is a nice little guy too, but obviously I have no strong opinion on it given they just took an already popular and well designed Pokémon and made it brown instead of blue.
Maybe the evolution will be something worth getting excited about, for now this thing just kind of exists and that’s fine.

Very few people are pointing this out. The pattern on his belly was also changed to look like a rib cage. Should be interesting to see where they take the evo.

You’re telling me. You can’t even fucking read.

The point was that having, say, Psyduck available in every region makes very little sense, and it makes the world feel small and artificial. Regional forms are a good compromise because they at least acknowledge that the a pokemon shouldn’t naturally be in a region.

Separate species, and Psyduck is chilling in Unova in BW2 anyway. Copy-pasting a pokemon across generations was always dumb (game freak themselves have admitted to have only done it for dex padding), and now we’re stuck with it in order to avoid autistic meltdowns. Regional forms, as basic as some of them are, are a great compromise.
