That would be a waste of your Tera. You'd want to take advantage of the Tera move to get your Fighting or Ground coverage so you can slam Steel types that can switch in for free on Cloyster. Perhaps Fire in OU where you want to clip Corv, Ferrothorn, Kartana, Magnezone, Bisharp's evolution, and so on.

Electric or normal mean one weakness.

Don't use balloon, it's a meme. Heavy duty boots or Safety Goggle.

With this you can easily predict status moves or your one weakness and not die.

Back during IoA it was the most common rain sweeper because Seismitoad wasn't "discovered" yet. Barraskewda would quickly rise to take its place after that because it got Flip Turn from the tutors. Now Rain is usually Seismitoad + Barraskewda + Ferrothorn with your choice of Zapdos, Volcanion, Thundurus-T, Tornadus-T, Scizor, Bisharp, or Urshifu-R

It was broken with Dynamax, but without it it was just okay. After it got Flip Turn it gave Rain a way to keep momentum. Your Thunder user very likely has Volt Switch, letting you run U-turn on Pelipper, Flip Turn on Barraskewda, and something like Magearna or Zapdos with Volt Switch. Barraskewda is super hard to pin down and kill because of Flip Turn, and it'll wear down switch ins with repeated rain boosted CB Flip Turns until it can just click Liquidation for 6 turns straight and win.

And yes, Flip Turn was all it got that made it shoot up in popularity. It was already "discovered" so to speak, and it didn't take all that long for Rain to rear its head back in OU after falling to UU.

People are going to switch in their Cloyster check whenever they see a Cloyster. The extra damage MIGHT help break through something less beefy like Corv, but for something like Toxapex? You're getting hazed whether you're dealing 35% to it or 70%. It's better to give it a Tera type that lets it cover its weaknesses

If the Tera move changes based on the user's tera type regardless if they are in that form or not then hidden power is back in the game. Is it special? Physical? Both? we don't know but im hedging it will look something like this

The new mechanic is banned in 2 months and nothing changes from Swsh besides. What Pokemon you can pick to spam pivot moves, Smogon players complain the meta is stale because no more 20 year event transfer moves

Nothing wrong with transfer moves. Pre-Home S/S was terrible. Bisharp didn't even have Knock Off and G-Corsola was a genuine menace because like 5 Pokemon had Knock Off or Toxic.

Also, if the mechanics of Terastallization aren't too overbearing, it'll probably stay viable. Ubers will be just a bit bigger than normal as things like Regieleki get banned immediately

Shedinja is bait, with weather, toxic, leech seed, poisonpowder, will-o-wisp and all the others you'd be a fool to waste your one use of Tera on it. Something like Tera Fire Rotom Heat into Overheat to one shot new amoongus will be way more valuable than shed.

Doubles lacks a lot of options that singles provides, and the lack of tiers in VGC means that the meta has centralized super hard with 99% of Pokemon never being seen because they can't handle Kyogre, Groudon, Regieleki, Rillaboom, Zacian, Grimmsnarl, Incelroar, and whatever other top threat is around at the time.

It's still the only good physical Electric attacker. Regieleki just cannot compete with Plasma Fists. Also it has actual coverage, like Grass Knot, that let it blow past Ground types that completely wall Regieleki.
