I have a living regional pokedex done in Hoenn (working on national)
living national pokedex done in HGSS/DPPt
living regional dex in BW
I transferred my living dex up from XY to USUM do have a living national dex in Gen 7,
and I have a living regional dex in SwSH.
BW2+ it's worth it for the shiny charm if you hunt shinies, but gens prior to that I just completed them because I was really bored during the pandemic.

Finished the regional dex in Sw/Sh. It was fun-ish, but I had to do a lot of trading with randos. To get the other cover legendary, my strategy was to breed for a shiny Eevee and offer that up—seemed like the most valuable shiny, considering the other guy could evolve it into whatever he wanted. It worked out.
Didn't bother with the DLC shit, just left it at the base game.

Ever since LGPE I make it a habit to catch as many Pokemon as I come across during the main campaign to make completing the dex easier in the post game. Since then I have completed the dex in every game. BDSP was pretty fun considering nearly every Pokemon was in the Underground, only boring part were the daily Safari Zone Natdex Pokemon, but people from /wfg/ were able to help when I did giveaways so it wasn't so bad
