Yes. They removed the berry-blending mini-game as a part of making Pokeblocks, sadly, but you can play any rank at any location right from the start and the new Contest character shows up as a sort of boss contestant in every Master rank.

They were so fucking awesome I’m shocked anyone is calling them bad. Maybe I’m not remembering everyone perfectly but actually building your Pokémon for a contest was really cool and the fact that it didn’t need extra jingles and just used your regular moves was great and is exactly the kind of seamless integration minigames need.

Just get a Claydol, is way easier.
And if you have the chance, visit Pacifilog and learn Explosion, you'll get all ribbons with one pokemon.

Yes, but they got dumbed down so hard you can easily just grind the entire contest circuit with your favorite mon from your ingame team the moment you reach the city, so it's more of a pointless distraction than a separate mode now.
