This is perfectly fine actually. Common complaint about Z-Moves and Megas was you were free to use them to mow down most basic trainers in the story, while Dynamax ended up barely used outside of Gyms. This is a pretty good balance for using it during your playthrough that doesn't affect using it for competitive.

It's the same big problem as Colosseum, except with your gimmick instead of saving. All the doubling back to the nearest crystal or center every use will get aggravating in a hurry.

It's a tedium aspect, not a difficulty one.

Seems fine to me. If they didn't have that you could just solo the game with one pokemon. You'd just terastalize it to whatever type you wanted for the are you're in and keep going. Making it like this keeps it to important battles.

In case there's a Shadow mon coming up and it faints itself. There's no way to get back to some of them.
