It was only its signature move for its debut gen, hardly counts. Plus It can learn Swords Dance anyway, a physical Sceptile is not unusable.

Unburden makes physical Sceptile viable.
It only really peaked in Gen 5 though, when it could do the Flying Gem + Acrobatics combo. Just wait for all the Gems to make a return.

More a pet peeve in lieu of Gunk Shot replacing Bomb, but Sludge and Sludge Bomb going special. Weezing and Gengar love it, but now Grimer and Muk have two might-as-well-be-namesake moves they can't use very well for a lot of the game. Bomb just looks better too, and I liked how it was a random surprise move for a few physical Pokemon.

The gen 1, 3 and 4 starters were given out in the Dream World.
For whatever reason, it was just the gen 2 and 5 starters that didn't have their hidden abilities available until they were randomly dropped in Bank circa ORAS.

85 attack is the absolute floor to be usable; it doesn't even approach good. why bother at that point? you're better off just running Dodrio or Hawlucha or something at that point.

It's definitely bad unboosted but Sceptile has both Dragon Dance if 120 speed isn't enough, or Swords Dance to just outright double the stat and rely on that high base speed (which gets higher if you just use a consumable item to trigger Unburden). Terrain seeds and Red Card seems to be popular items.

252+ Atk Sceptile Leaf Blade vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Mew: 121-144 (30 - 35.7%) -- 35.1% chance to 3HKO
>+2 252+ Atk Sceptile Leaf Blade vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Mew: 243-286 (60.2 - 70.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Just don't expect it to do numbers in OU, but it seems to be doing fine in NU, and physical sets are clearly preferred right now.

Gen 3 UUBL is abnormal because Gen 3 just tossed a ton of them in it. but didn't let them fall to UU or test it. That's why it has the most bya landslide
