at least they have modern graphics, quality animations, and free online servers

Pokemon has nothing of those and it's still running on a modified XY engine with recycled animations and models from XY

Not sure why so many people want voice acting in the first place. 99% of the time, English voice acting for Jap games sounds cheesy and awful. I guarantee you Game Freak would not put in the money or time to make good voice acting.

I would genuinely prefer to keep that shit silent and just read the dialogue

Having a 20-something year old woman play a character over 100 years old was worse, yet that's what Nintendo did for the English BotW voice track.
Pokémon would be far worse than that again and that's being kind to the anime dub artists (who'd absolutely be used in lieu of paying for proper voice talent).

It's English video game dubs in general. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is Polish, but the English dub sounds just as bad as in your average nip game, while the Polish acting sound fine.

English dubs are low budget garbage in general, it has nothing to do with the source language.

There ks no excuse. Gen 5 had voice sampling, no reason for SwSh not to have had it.
