A general reduction in quality starting in the 3D era, and SWSH discussion being defined by dexit. SV lacks a real tent pole issue, and this plus PLA are arguably the beginning of an upswing. So instead people jostle over a multitude of smaller issues. So blame XY.

Personally, the only discussions I take seriously are those about the lore, theoretical and the music. For the rest, I slap the autista of this hate-dom away with a simple Jiggly-slap-puff, which is stronger than their faggot spirits and unadmitted addiction/failed childhood.

That's the biggest lie ever created here. If it really were a containment board, every pokemon-related stuff wouldn't be allowed on other boards, just like /pol/tards, /lgbt/tards and /v/tards.

Gen 8. Gen 7 is where it really started to slip, but Gen 8 pushed /vp/ off the edge. The total lack of quality understandably made most people quite cynical about the direction this series was going in, and Gen 9 seems to be doing nothing to assuage those cynical viewpoints. Gamefreak doesn't care anymore. And if they don't care about this series anymore, why should we?

While XY is lacklustre and I’m not gonna defend that, I feel that the general downward spiral really started with gen 7 with USUM specifically and its so called ultra change which was a really notable instance of gamefreaks reputation becoming damaged as prior games always had some form of universal pre release hype with XY and regular SM was no exception. SWSH was the straw that broke the camurupts back (heck I’d even say that even before the dexit news, it barely had any hype until the wild area trailer near E3) and really did serious (possibly irreparable) damage to the point where its effects are still felt to this day.

Because the magic of Pokemania is dead and gone and TPCi doesn't know how the fuck to bring it back. They don't care about the anime outside of Japan (if they even do in Japan) and social media has made it so nothing they do will be good enough. What's there to discuss past 'it's good' or 'it's bad'? I know discussions about the music theory could be had, but most of /vp/ doesn't know of it. I'm a musician and even I don't know the words for what Pokemon music does. Maybe I could recognize an arpeggio, unusual rhythmic structure, or dissonant chord? Regardless, I knew one Pokemon fan who worked on the soundtrack for famous movies, but I doubt I could convince him to use 4chan since he's the "I hate crypto, emotional abuse, and Donald Trump" type who may be hesitant to try this site.
