>>51186339Mareep is such a well designed animal pokemon. Instead of literally being a cartoon sheep, its got those interesting horns and long tail with a ball that lights up and glows, almost like a firefly. It clearly communicates its electric typing but also gives its design a fun, fantasy aspect you wouldn’t expect out of a regular barn mammal.
And then its face + the tail combined give it a somewhat blue dinosaur-like appearance, making it more original than just a sheep with flashy parts. Yet at the same time.. its a sheep. Its a glowy lizard/mammal hybrid sheep, but you can tell it acts like a sheep and fills the same niche as one.
Truly a pocket monster. Say what you want about its evolutions (im personally not a fan of the direction they took), but Mareep by itself is one of the gold standards to me.
