I guess this time they aren’t really caring about designs being based on the region’s irl culture. Galar must’ve only been 100% UK inspired because James Turner was the art director. Now I assume someone from Japan is in charge which is why there’s more Japanese based designs (Karen Rider, Sushi, Ningen, Horsehair Crab, etc) and then random designs from random parts of the world (Cleopatra Ostrich, Quaxly evo being a Brazilian Carni Val dancer, Scarab beetle, etc). Would’ve been cool to have more Spain inspired designs outside of an Olive and names having Spanish words in them

Number of Rfakes isn't confirmed, this part is just speculation. Only ones we know are eel diglett and mushroom tentacool, the "ga" rfake might be one of those

We were also told that a cactus mon would get "something" but theres no cactus paradox mon, so it only MIGHT be an rfake

I think in paldea is gonna repeat another johto where the old pokemon outshine the new ones, many lines have two stages which means many pokemon are only gonna appear fully evolved in the wild or relegated to gimmicks/ boss battles like the coin or the worm

Penguins are extremely popular in the UK and iirc when the first penguin was brough to a zoo in England people were flipping the fuck out over it thinking it was the coolest thing they'd ever seen. So Eiscue's lore of it coming from another region and settling in Galar fits with that history

Copperajah represents England's ties to India. Not that hard to understand.

When I say "all of Galar's designs are tied to UK culture and history", I don't mean "you can find these animals in the UK". It's more representational. Falinks represents the era where Rome occupied (what would become) England, Perserker represents the vikings that settled in the northern UK (and Runegrigus is the runestones they left behind), Urishifu is a mix of Celtic stuff and martial arts (there's a video I watched explaining all of it's origins and it was a lot deeper than "kung fu bear", most of it's design ties to some Celtic stuff). Galar is the only region where 100% of it's designs tie to it's irl counterpart in some way. Not even Kanto is 100% irl Kanto.

"Ga-pink" refers to a cropped screenshot showing a pink Pokemon whose name starts with "Ga"; he clarified it was a RFake but we're not sure if that means a 3rd line or not. Yep, 83 species. 4 of which are just ???, which really equals out to 79 since putting down a ??? doesn't confirm anything. Hoping it does though, even if that's only 2 more new species than previous gens (though less non-legendaries since Galar had less legendaries)

Honestly, it's a bit of a meme response at this point, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Like, the last few main games have greatly soured my opinion of the series, but this game is doing stuff that is certainly catching my interest. That said, we've seen so little as far as actual gameplay that it's still difficult to say for sure on whether it'll be good or not. The bits we know of are setting the stage for something great, but wasting potential has become GF's specialty so it's up in the air.

A pokemon being 3 stages increases its chance of seeing high level usage. Moreover than if it were 2 stages. Ideally Gamefreak would make more 2nd stages have high BSTs like Volcarona, but they don't do that much.

I exclusively care about new gens for the changes they introduce to the meta.

I was very hyped. But the "no scaling" thing is a deal breaker for me. I'm still interested and will watch the rest of the leak season cause I enjoy it. But I won't be buying. Level scaling is gay and defeats the purpose of levels.

The point of levels is to choose your own difficulty, you can underlevel for a challenge, level normally for a fair fight, or overlevel to curb stomp.

theoretically every gym would start with like two pokemon at level 12-14
when you beat one then they all up to like two pokemon at level 20 or something
then to three pokemon and level 26 or whatever
it increases incrementally as you get badges not sticks exactly to whatever level your pokemon are
there would be nothing stopping you from underleveling like every other game
the problem i have with level scaling is wild pokemon because if it scales theres notthing stopping you from running all the way to a late game area and catching the pseudo at like level 5

It's not only the gyms anon. What if I want to go to the ice area and catch me an ice-mon for my run?

With {open world} + {no set order} i can travel there only to find level 55 mons that won't listen to me (possibly) and won't be able to train and evolve. Unless they have Pokémon of multiple levels in any given area.

Just highlight though that the DLCs in Gen 8 were scaling depending on the badge you had. At least the first one. Can't remember for the second.

Honestly, I'm hoping thats the case, otherwise I'm fully expecting this to be a very linear experience. Like, I know they are saying that it's open world, but I feel like it's going to be some sort of situation where it is, but in a monkey's paw sort of way. Kaka is nursing a test build. These builds have more than little watermarks in the corner to identify leakers.

They'll do weird little things like hide a single pixel of a specific color thats different for each test build distributed. There are multiple tells for every screenshot Kaka would reveal.

So unless they give the dragon/ice pseudo a spectacularly bad stat distribution and atrocious movepool there is no way to fuck it up right?

If it's even 1 point faster than Lando-T it has automatic OU potential.
If it's a special attacker with Freeze-Dry, whether bulky (dragon/ice has useful defensive applications as Kyurem showed us) or speedy it's automatically good because it shits on 5 types, 4 of which being extremely common.
If it's a physical attacker with DD and a decent coverage move for steels I don't see it being any lower than UU.

They'd need to give it the Gen 5 Kyurem-B treatment to make it bad.

Okay maybe I'm just autistic but does anyone else feel like they should have just given Quag an evolution instead of a regional variant with an objectively worse typing? Ground/water is already great besides a 4x to grass which competitively speaking grass isn't terribly common offensively anyways. Not to mention being able to use eviolite on quagsire would help it so much with its walling capacity, especially with Unaware as an ability. I don't understand why GF would do my boy like this bros.

Who cares? There are enough Water/Ground types at this point and Poison/Ground is still a good type that hasn't been done since gen 1. Also it's not a regional variant of Quagsire but a new Pokemon, so its stat spread and the way it's used could be entirely different.
