>>51217481Yeah, but it still just limits options, Omastar's rock typing certainly doesn't help it defensively and it does learn rock-tyle moves in gen 2 onwards though doesn't use them.
I'm not saying it's better or worse for a competitive standpoint, but design-wise it makes much more sense giving more options and allowing you to better use a Pokemon's stats to the fullest potential.
Like cloyster having higher physical attack than special attack is just weird considering both of its types were special. Then Butterfree being the opposite having two physical types, but having a special attack stat almost twice that of its physical attack.
Not to mention stuff like the elemental punches being special rather than physical.
