>>51226436>not really.Yes really, and saying otherwise shows how little experience you have and the lack of critical thinking skills. Competitive Pokemon has always shown that even fast offensive Pokemon need some backbone. Otherwise Deoxys-A would be AG and Gengar would OU consistantly.
And before you screech about ‘fanfic’ meta, the principle applies to VGC and possibly even more so. Imagine of Zacian didn’t resist Sucker Punch, Grassy Glide, Fake Out, or moves like Glacial Lance, or was weak to Electric, Flying, or Water? It would be much harder to bring into games since it would be much easier to KO (something more possible in Doubles since Zacian-C can only target one Pokemon).
>there is no “KO it back” if it has a better offensive STAB.If it was Pure Ice, there definitely would. Even with any other better STAB combo you can think of, there would still be Pokemon that could take a hit or 2 from it, especially in doubles for the same reason as above. Also, Zacian has Fairy STAB too, which is pretty good.
Also, the original point was that typing matters/Ice types are a handicap. If typing didn’t matter, then STABs would be useless (obviously it does and typing matters more than just STABs, even on Pokemon like Zacian-C). And Zacian-C is partically why so few Ice types are ever use. It also happens to be because Incineroar and Charizard too. It don’t matter that Darm-G has effective 209 Atk, it’s still a victim of its typing being weak to common offensive Pokemon. Darm-U is still a victim since Groudon and Kyogre exist, and it is also why Venusaur is still decent in VGC.
