Leon spent the entire game saving Galar from various DMax Pokemon, why would he suddenly decide not to help when it matters most. And Leon going full diva doesn't work since through the story he's shown to be helpful and gracious outside of the UNBEATABLE CHARIZARD thing which is clearly just for theatrics, he isn't really conceited enough for the diva character shift to work.
Maybe Leon could refuse to do it because he thinks that Eternatus might get hurt or something.
