>>51227388Yeah, I'd say the JP text isn't really any more explicit than the EN, unlike the line re:Mew.
>What does it serve for N's physical connection to Pokemon to only be a rumor?Like I said, whether it's true or not, it's reinforces his role as the messianic leader of a millenarian cult. If he was literally born of pokemon, it must have been a miraculous birth, which would also fit this. I don't think simply being the product of pokefucking would fit the same as if he was miraculously born from pokemon with no mundane explanation.
Re: Canalave stuff, if you check the JP text it says that humans and pokemon "were the same," which suggests that there was no firm line dividing them from each other like there is now. If we assume this folk tale is true, the implication is that humans and pokemon descend from a common ancestor, rather than humans (as they exist now) fucking pokemon (as they exist now).
>if N is part of the Harmonia bloodline, why does he have supernatural powers Ghetsis doesn't?A bloodline being blessed with great powers that only manifest in certain members is a really common trope.
>why is Ghetsis angry at pokemonIs he angry at pokemon? I didn't really get this impression. Rather, he seems to fit the classic pokemon villain archetype of seeing pokemon as tools, like Silver.
>viscerally disgusted by N's existenceN is autistic, which I'm sure made him frustrating to raise. His idealism also gets in the way of Ghetsis's plans, like when he demanded the opportunity to see if the PC was chosen.
An interesting line I just found:
>From his infancy, I provided him with the education required to become the hero of legend. I think this means that N being abandoned in the woods to be raised by Pokemon was part of Ghetsis's plan.
My JP was so bad I understood none of the story at all originally. Nowadays I definitely COULD understand the game in JP, but it would take me ages. I agree the localization is stiff and robotic, though.
