SM can feel lacking at times, maybe you won't notice it if you play it first but a fairly linear game having even fewer areas isn't great. Both have big issues with interrupting you constantly, so some of the USUM content making areas take even longer may be a negative for you. But you're interrupted so much already it almost doesn't matter. The story changes aren't very frequent, I think SM's felt like a more natural conclusion but USUM you get more. So it is a question of do you want Lusamine or Lillie to get a more satisfying conclusion. Ultra space isn't very satisfying.
Basically you're not in for that different an experience either way. So its do you want more content, or slightly less interruptions and arguably a few better story elements. It'd probably be one of my favourites if the pacing was a bit better.
