Those are attack names. It's like saying a Pokemon really does gorily explode when they use explosion when they clearly don't. When you use these moves inside buildings do the buildings collapse? No. It's telling earthquake is only a few times as strong as basic tackling moves.

Nobody is saying they don't survive somehow(which makes skunktank and such really strange to think about), but the only detailed shots of explosion are the cardass arts.
Ingame animations aren't exactly conclusive cause no shit they aren't giving unique explosion animations to a shitload of mons; hell even at their best they barely show them moving during most attacks.

The cardass stuff is as official as art could get at the time, sure pokemon still had a few more revisions later but they were all pretty minor.

In terms of pure strength most Pokemon are similar in strength to a human, but they obviously are unmatched in terms of ability. Ignoring dubious shit like Machamp supposedly being able to throw 1000 punches in two seconds, it's still obviously going to be able to outmatch a human based purely on its innate fighting ability. Humans can be trained to fight but Pokemon are just better at it, and better at improving themselves.

Humans in Pokémon are INCREDIBLY durable.

I'd wager if you dropped a thermonuclear bomb on the Kanto Region, every structure would be leveled, but everybody (Pokémon included) would get up just fine, and likely be out to catch the new crop of poison types the fallout probably turned itself into.

I think there are not only strong people, but pokemon are physically weaker than they seem. Their attacks are almost never lethal unless they are literally legendaries.

I dunno about most, certainly a good few and more if the individual is physically strong like Black Belts, Bruno, Chuck, Wake & Marshal. I think the uppermost capacity could be from the Psychics, it really just depends on the extent of their psychokinetic abilities so presumably the more skilled ones like the Gym Leaders and maybe Caitlin would be the most powerful (I don't know if Will or Lucian have psychic abilities). I'd probably say though that pretty much every human would lose to Fire-Type and Electric-Type Pokemon and probably Ice-Types as well.

Humans in the Pokemon world can literally just stand around in the middle of active volcanoes next to lava just fine, or can go into intense freezing wastes in their gym shorts and not give a shit.
On top of that there's a ton of electric gyms in this series where you have active dangerous high voltage equipment lying around, literally used as barriers, and nobody ever gets hurt. You can use attacks like Discharge underwater and nothing happens to you.
Either Pokemon are really weak or humans are really strong, but either way a strong enough human should be able to beat up pretty much any non legendary. Hell even some like Celebi could probably be manhandled.
