>>51254970In 2011, I picked up a copy of Pokémon White and a 3DS. I played through about half the game and put it down. Surely, this would be the end of my days adventuring in the Pokémon world.
2021. It has been over a year since the lockdowns. I’ve read all the books I wanted to read. I’ve worked out. I’ve excelled at my remote job. I’m bored. What to do now? There, on my self, I see a red 3DS with a single Pokémon game collecting dust. Does it even work? I charge it up and start a new game. How is this good? Why am I feeling so excited? 8 years with no Pokémon really made me appreciate how fun these games are. I honestly didn’t notice that every Pokémon was new for the main game. It was just plain fun.
Now I’m curious about the rest of the games. I find White 2 on Ebay and think it is pretty good. Then, I get a copy of Pokémon Y. Insane. The legendary fight intro gave me feelings I hadn’t felt since Mewtwo. It was really something.
Then, I hear about ORAS. My memory isn’t that great, so I don’t even remember playing Sapphire until I later find the game when visiting my mom near the end of 2021. I choose Alpha Sapphire. I’ve been out of the loop for years, so I have no clue what to expect. The Delta Episode was the first time I felt pressed to use the Master Ball. I later found out that Nintendo had spoiled it at the time of release. I feel sad for those that didn’t get to play with no knowledge of it. It really changes how you feel about the game. It was great.
I thought I would hate Sun and Moon. Now, they are probably my favorite 3DS games, despite the massive amount of cut scenes. Played Sun first. The story really resonated with me. My mom has mental problems that have often resulted in destructive choices. Oh, and the game was meticulously balanced. I didn’t grind. The final battle was literally down to one move for each side.
