Colosseum has the same main problems as DP: slow as fuck and piss poor Pokemon variety. It's also equally overrated.

It doesn't. It's a great breath of fresh air if you liked Pokemon when it was new, but it hasn't aged well. It really needs a remaster on a current gen console.

XD fixes the slow purification mechanic by allowing you to purify in chambers. Citadark Isle is also way better than the Under. So yes, it's better than the trainwreck that is Colosseum. Though the characters in Colosseum like Miror B, Dakim, Venus, and Ein are more memorable than Snattle, Lovrina, Gorigan, etc.
