It's most effective when you use Yawn on let's say Charizard and the opponent still dynamaxes Charizard on turn 2 which is put to sleep. But players usually don't dynamax after Yawn hits in turn 1.
Recovery is rarely used on VGC. VGC uses support moves like Follow Me, Tail Wind, Parting Shot or even Memento (I look at the slug), some boost moves and anything else is attack.
Anything else is alright though I see problems with Kyogre+Zacian facing the slug. Even with Earth Power, Zacian is going to eat that slug for breakfast.
