I don't know what your problem is. Every time I want to talk about the Route 42/Lake of Rage theme on this board, no one responds. It's sad, because I view it as some of this series' best work musically. But no one else seems to appreciate it as much as me.
When I first listened to it while playing GSC, I thought it'd be pretty popular, but on YouTube, it's the least viewed Johto route theme. The bVII chord coming right off the V is such an amazing progression. It leaves a huge impact on the listener. I think it's that downward chromatic movement from G to F# to F natural that makes it feel so magical.
The Route 42/Lake of Rage theme perfectly captures that "adventure through the woods" feel in my opinion.
