Gen 8 had the worst game, worst online connectivity, highest sales of non-gameboy games to justify fucking up the games now (including bricking systems), and polluted fanart sites with a generic girl and a self-balder that now hold #1 and #2 spots over 25 years of characters. The mainline games will never recover what held fans for that 10 year gap after gameboy because the masses will assume it's always been rotting garbage instead of regular garbage, and you know nintendo fans justify anything with a logo they like on it.

I thought gen 2 was a huge improvement over 1, and gen 5 was an improvement over 4, but since gen 6 I agree fully, it's been nothing but down with each game.

It's gotten better as the trailers have gone on. And I don't just mean "I've gotten used to it/it grew on me" I mean they've been playing with shaders in regards to the facial features so they look less like emojis.

The battle gimmick is interesting and should be fun to play with.
On the other hand the game looks like dog shit, maybe worse than SWSH in the visuals.
The open world aspect will either be done well and catapult the game far past gen 8 and even 7-6, or it'll be done badly and sink this game down to the bottom of the barrel. I don't see an in-between, it'll make or break the game.

there is no way retards who genuinely think the game looks worse than SWSH exist. The pokemon look miles better and have way better animations, especially in the overworld, even better than PLA in that respect with shit like Pineco hanging off of trees or slaking sleeping while Vigoroth play around it. Flying pokemon actually being able to both stand and fly unlike PLA too. Not only that the actual areas look way better and have nicer textures too, not to mention the improved pokemon models and textures. Like the artstyle of the NPCs is a personal preference thing and I get why people say that may be worse, but other than that it is an objective improvement over every prior pokemon game by a wide margin

absolutely not. the world feels bland and lifeless due to the washed out color palette low contrast+ low saturation that they went with.
Coupled with the weird new artstyle it doesn't even feel like pokemon.

the world is objectively less bland and lifeless in every respect, down to the NPCs having way more movement in the towns and the pokemon themselves too. The color palette is a bit more washed out, but I prefer it to the oversaturation of prior 3D games personally. Artstyle wise I do agree its a step down, but I don't hate it personally, thats more of a preference thing than anything
