I just recently played Diamond and Platinum and they were boring... why do people like these games?

At the time it was the first gen to have online and Platinum had a lot of nice improvements. HGSS has aged better.

Personally I enjoy the soothing OST, I like grinding with the VS Seeker, the dex is small but I enjoy all the options available, I like the NPC teams, and the tone of the region is pretty laidback and relaxed.

The OP mentioned Platinum. When I played Platinum it didn't feel much different than diamond. It wasn't until HGSS that the engine was playable and even then it is in my opinion the worst engine in the pokemon franchise. It's slow and clunky.
