People perceive Pokemon as animal adjacent characters, not aliens and in-context they're not aliens but presented as the animal life. And even the series pushes these type of Pokemon together. Throwing random labels doesn't make them true, you have to examine the context and how people respond to that context. This is why people nowadays lump Gardevoir, Lopunny and Vaporeon together, they're Pokemon first and foremost and also have a reputation. No one is lumping these with aliens from mass effect or anything like that. Pokemon has it's own context and it's culture built around it, what you call pokephilia.
