Especially when later gen mons, mechanics, types, and appearance can be added to the gen 3 roms. A large part of the feel is just artworks. I saw a couple of hacks a while back that looked like they were from the DS games and it turned out they were just GBA reskins.

If you just want hisui Pokémon, then play Pokémon Firegold. It has that and most of features from Gen 8. I should note that, other than Ursaluna, the actual hisui mons are in kanto

I wanted to make an HGSS hack but the tools and documentation for DS hacking seem much worse than the ones for GBA hacking.

The tools have been getting better recently but I imagine it'll be a good bit before the best hacks are made. All I hope for is that one day we get a PGE for the DS games.
