They're obviously not the best games in the franchise, that's ridiculous. That said, I think it's often unfairly criticized, e.g. I've seen people even say that XY dropped triple battles and the National Dex, both of which are clearly wrong. XY were the only games with a battle facility (Battle Maison) which had triple battles and between XY and ORAS you can complete the entire National Dex (excluding Mythicals, which were rereleased anyways for the 20th anniversary) without needing to transfer from prior gens, though you still have the option to do so via Pokemon Bank. Gen 6 was the easiest Gen to complete the National Dex.

My main problem with X and Y is that I was expecting an adventure and story similar to BW and BW2, but sadly it was not the case.

The games felt rushed as fuck, and the lack of things to do after completing the Elite Four made the games of me barebones.

The OST is okeyish, with memorable mentions like the Battle Trainer, Gym Leader, Elite Four and The Pokeball Factory Themes.

I used to hate them for not following the epicness from Gen V, but nowadays I learned that Gamefreak sucks and there is nothing I can do to change that.

Overall it was a nice experience. Only complain that I have is regarding box legendary. You do not know much about the box legendary in the game and you have to catch it in basement where they are already captured in some way by Lysandre.
Not to mention the treatment Zygarde got.

Where the game is just a line where you're interrupted by NPCs the entire game and you rush through all the gyms in 10 hours? Thank fuck it wasn't like BW and BW2 then.

So if they blocked 3 of the routes with NPCs that magically disappear after you beat the game, the game wouldn't feel barebones anymore? Because that's literally what BW did.
