Not only the Wii was way behind Sony and Microsoft, but the DS was some kind of mini Nintendo 64, as shown by Super Mario 64 being actually graphically much better than the original, and on DS there were also 3D monster collectors with graphics similar to XY for the overworld. Pokemon was just A LOOOOOOOT behind, both on that era, both on that console, as usual. Nintendo DS could definitely stand a 3D RPG, or a 2D one with a real graphics that aren't square tiles autism. Remember gen 5 2D animations are lower than even what the GBA was capable of
