Say what you want about GO but it revitalized the franchise, and it was the closet we got to Pokemania since the early 2000s. In fact, Masters happened as a direct result of GO, because TPC got jealous that GO wasn't their baby and they wanted a slice of the mobile market too. Masters was supposed to be TPC's answer to GO, and it failed spectacularly. When it debuted, it was a shit game. It has gotten better but it's still a shit game. I can't imagine why anyone still plays it.

Masters is Sugimori's child, not TPC's
TPC never promoted Masters the way it should, rushed its release despite knowing it had no content whatsoever at launch and was glitched on Samsung devices, continuously gimps it (no access to the latest generation until a year has passed)
Both Masters (DeNA) and Go (Niantic) are made by outside developers, DeNA being shoehorned in by the DeNA/Nintendo mobile game partnership

Its sad, but kinda true. GF lately has become taken the "New thing best" in the Switch era in regards to how it treats the characters. Masters has its flaws in using some more than others, and its probably because of some of those characters are obvious money earners, but when it does use characters it does try to be pretty respectful towards all.
