i haven't played legends in a while and i was wondering if im doing the right thing, i just want an alpha voltorb, so i noticed i have normal outbreak of them, is it enough to just save at the village, and then go to where the outbreak is hoping an alpha spawns and reseting the game if it doesn't happen?

If you want alphas, its a random chance of them spawning in a second wave when you clear the initial outbreak whether its a normal mass outbreak or an MMO. If its an MMO, only the pokemon on the map with a shining star is guaranteed to spawn a second wave, but its not guaranteed to be alphas either. If the pokemon is fully evolved then it would be. Depending on the pokemon you're going after, a more hands off approach you could use is sitting idle in a map where you know a pokemon you want can spawn in a distortion. You have a chance of getting a random alpha there as well. Don't know the odds on that though.

If you have updated then your best bet is just to reset the maps over and over until you get an MMO with Voltorb.
To reset the maps go to a zone then right away go back to village. The moment you open the zone selection screen all the mons and if their shiny/alpha is determined.

Now there is RNG manipulation that can be done in the MMOs, but I'll leave that to youtube people to explain. Personally I think it's too much work with how common shinies/alphas are.
