Play a game with only single-stage or other weak gimmick pokemon. XY, ORAS, and SM/USUM are especially good for it.

i tried nuzlocke once, but apparently i have not enough autism for that because i found it really boring.

monotype / weak pokemon runs are nice challanges

Grug must play other games than Pokemon otherwise Grug will be bored of Pokemon every day, Grug should try playing different games like Oblivion or Dwarf Fortress, do this and Grug will be not bored anymore

And no over level, that way Gym chieftain fair fight, more rewarding, Grug need more strategy
Bonus rocks if try no use type advantage
Oog have more fun try new loincloth monsters, Grug can too.
If not work, no play loincloth monster for many moon, that way game feel fresh when Grug come back
