>>51317546If you’re going to go into sematics for Dynamax, it’s only fair to do the same for Z-moves.
If being down 3 then coming back with no effort isn’t considered a loss made into a win, then Z-moves aren’t a complete removal button either, and it most certainly wasn’t as much of a removal button as Gems were, which most people don’t seem to mind or bring up.
Z moves, when not used with Status moves, aren’t fully realized until you actually land the attack, and said attack could be wasted entirely depending on certain factors.
Some Pokemon were immune to Z moves.
Some Pokemon were bulky enough to survive 1 hit with enough HP to spare.
Debuffs in VGC are a lot more common and can make Z moves way too weak.
And Protect, a move almost every Pokemon uses in VGC, would significantly reduce the damage of Z-moves.
Besides just tanking Z moves, you could always just KO the Z move user if you knew which Pokemon had the Crystal beforehand.
With Dynamax on the other hand, if you use an attack successfully, you still benefit from it because Max effects had no way to prevent them besides being immune or if both Pokemon on your side were off the field.
You most certainly can’t just stop them from Dynamaxing either without Zacian-C, Zamazenta-C, or Eternatus, because Dynamaxing not only has a bunch of immunities it really shouldn’t fucking have like Encore or Destiny Bond or Weight Based moves for some fucking reason, but with Double HP, you effectively halved all damage universally.
Also don’t act like Dynamax wasn’t a kill button either. You gave yourself moves with similar BP to Close Combat, Boomburst, Draco Meteor, and even Hyper Beam without the drawbacks, and did it for 3 turns.
