Not much of a bug type fan but I have a couple picks.
>playing Ruby for the first time and miraculously find a Surskit by pure chance
>exciting because I had never seen one before and a water strider mon seemed really cool
>Bug/Water was a new combination which was really neat
>Started using it immediately even though I already had Mudkip but I was expecting it to evolve into something awesome
>I still remember that moment when it started evolving, eyes glued to the screen hoping for a water strider mosquito hybrid lookin badass
>and then I thought it delivered until the realization sank in that the eyes were fake and there's nothing else there
>Masquerain the most non-intimidating Pokemon with Intimidate and the biggest kick to the balls was that it become Bug/Flying type
>tried to keep it on the team but eventually boxed it because it was useless
For some reason I still have a soft spot for Masquerain. It's just so bad and so disappointing that I feel sorry for it and on the other hand it's a cute design as a standalone Pokemon. It's not Masquerain's fault GF decided to link a water strider to an intimidation tactic butterfly, utterly nonsensical decision. If I were to make a fakemon it would be what Surskit should've evolved into.
Otherwise I like Vikavolt and Araquanid because they delivered.

Volcarona I think is still my favorite bug, though Kleavor and Frosmoth have come close, and I will always have a soft spot for Scizor, Butterfree, Beedrill, Ariados, Ledian, Kricketune, and all the gen 7 bugs too. And Heracross grows on me more and more the more I see/use them
