It's so weird how they randomly introduced this super strong guy with 2 legendaries for the Sinnoh league tournament only for him to then disappear completely and never be mentioned again.
I feel like he would've been a more interesting pick for the current anime tournament than someone like Lance or Iris.

He's a ranger that rescues lost legends and tries to get them back home (basically a Dynamax Adventurer before that was a thing). Getting Darkrai back to its home required him to beat the Sinnoh League.
Due to the way his job works, his "team" is way too transient for something as committal as PWC. Even he doesn't know what his team could end up being. One battle he's got top-notch legendaries like Darkrai, the next his best are a Raikou and a Celebi.
And don't get him started about Zygarde...

Tobias was mentioned in one episode this year or so, indirectly. Ash told Goh that he knows about Darkrai and that it is an "awesome" Pokémon.
