I have come to the objective conclusion gens 6-8 are just as if not better than gens 1-5. No, I'm not trolling or memeing.
I was blinded for a long time. The truth was revealed to me only recently. Gens 1-5 are put on a pedestal while gens 6-8 offer EVERYTHING they have except they include an EXP share (which can be easily worked around if you train more than 6 mons in-game to complete your dex as the games already INTEND). They're literally the same but in 3D.

Battle Maison, Tree, Tower, Battle Spot, etc. offer as much content as you (You) put into the Battle Frontier in your lifetime.

Gens 6-8 are very soulful. I used to think this too until I replayed them and realized nostalgia was the only thing elevating gens 1-5 in my head.

There is backtracking and exploration in every Pokémon game throughout gens 6-8. If you disagree you weren't paying attention when playing them.

You literally can. Cutscenes are an overblown boogeyman and the campaigns for gens 6-8 are actually amazing if you put down the mind numbing boomer hater-ade. There are so many teams to build and Pokemon to enjoy. Plus online (only currently officially working for gens 6-8 btw) is amazing and training/battling is based.
