What are they, really? We see human ghosts in the games, as well as Yamask supposedly being human when it was alive.
Are ghost types the literal ghosts of deceased pokemon/humans? Or does the ghost typing just mean ghost-like in their appearances, abilities, and movesets? Does it depend on which ghost pokemon it is for them to be considered an actual spirit? Perhaps either-or, or even a mixture of both?

Tell me your theories /vp/. I just want to know if my cute misdreavus is her own entity or has a sad backstory for how she died and became a pokemon.
