>>51340845Kos (or some say, 'Kosm') is a Great One. A female Great One washed onto the shores of the fishing hamlet. Great Ones, in most circumstances anyway, are kind to people (provided that they are actually able to communicate with them). Kosm's body was riddled with unique parasites, unlike anything the people of the hamlet had ever seen.
Kosm provided these parasites to the people as food, and for a time, the residents of the hamlet didn't have to worry about feeding anyone. Everything was going well until the Byrgenworth scholars came in.
The scholars discovered the presence of the Great One, as well as the connection the residents of the hamlet had with her. According to Accursed Brew's description, the scholars ravaged the village. Eldritch knowledge is known for granting eyes on the inside of the head. The scholars wanted to find them.
The scholars scraped the eyes and skulls out of the living residents of the hamlet, as well as performing horrific experiments on both them and Kosm. Eventually, Kosm was killed by these actions.
Little did the scholars know, Kosm was pregnant. The Orphan of Kos, in the Japanese version, is known as "The Child Grown Old." The Orphan sat in his mother's decaying womb, developing in the dead husk of his mother. When he finally breaks free, he finds his mother dead, and nothing in front of him but an endless, lonely sea.
Kosm provided eyes for the vacuous Rom, possibly during the experiments that Willem ordered his scholars to perform. Micolash wanted to follow in Rom's path and prayed to Kosm, not realizing that she had been murdered a long time ago.
