I'm actually kind of excited for Scarlet and Violet. I haven't bought or played a mainline Pokemon game since White 2, but this looks p gud and has lots of Pokemon I like in it for a cool team. Also I can play with friends apparently.

Am I retarded and should adjust my expectations, or is it okay to be excited for video games?

Speaking as someone who has been dissapointed continuously since gen 6, I actually think SV will mark the arrival of a new golden age of the series. It's too early to say for sure but so far I have nothing negative to really say about it, it all looks good.

SV look much closer to what people were hoping for from a 3D home console main series Pokemon game unlike SwSh. That's reason enough to be hopeful. I'm certainly more positive about the series now since SwSh got rightfully dumped on.

I was on the fence when I saw LECHONGUS but Cyclizer and Grafaiai are the kind of "out there" pokémon I've been craving for a while. They'll definitely be on my team.

I think it's expectations are low so they small effort made these games pop out more.
SV Clearly have more effort into at a glance, although I wonder if these games are eating each other now, SWSH, reused everything but suffered a cut probably due to time constraints, they didn't have time to clean up a texture, PLA had nice and better animations, and model tweaks but looked really awful in the texture department with how blurry and low res the world or some characters were, now SV has a texture upgrade overall.
I used to think GameFreak lazy but now I just feel like they are overworked to the point that they just can't ship out a quality product because daddy TPC needs a game for the merch machine now. I don't envy anyone working on pokemon it feels more and more like it would be Hell, people are trying the best they can but lack the skill to pull this shit off in timely manner so you need to cut everything no matter how shit it makes the game.
