>>51360128People nowadays seem to use the words "easy" and "accessible" like they're synonyms.
Accessibility is good; easy isn't. Games should be accessible but challenging. An ideal game would be possible for anyone to beat but nobody would be able to beat it easily.
The less effort a victory takes the more hollow it feels. It waters down the experience, sometimes to a homeopathic degree.
Now, I don't actually have a problem with easy modes, or even the dumb feature in the OP image. I think if a person wants to have a terrible experience they should be allowed to make that choice. Some people watch entire movies on fast forward. It's a fucking stupid way to watch a movie, but it's also a free country.
It's just that the Pokemon games I like the most are the ones with at least a little teeth to them. Ranger, Panepon, Pokken, TCG, and Mystery Dungeon all challenged me at least one or two times, and I liked them more for that. All I'm asking for is a similar experience from an official mainline game. I don't think that's too much to ask.
